Markham, Ontario - Liberty Development’s eko Markham Centre and Liberty Square were awarded with BILD’s Pinnacle Award for the Places to Grow Community of the Year – High-Rise category, at the 29th Annual BILD Awards Ceremony.

April 27, 2009 – Liberty Development, a local development organization that calls Thornhill its home, is not just planning for compact mixed-use and transit oriented development, it has actually sold, built and occupied them. And now, Liberty Development is being recognized for its pioneering vision and delivery of just what growing municipalities all over Ontario are asking for – mixed-use hi-density and transit oriented communities – all years ahead of their time.

Comprised of York Region’s tallest office building (Liberty Square - HSBC Tower (12 storeys) – www.libertysquare.ca), retail at grade, a green roof and landscaped courtyard, and nearly 600 residential units in four mixed-use high-rise buildings, eko Markham Centre and Liberty Square have espoused and achieved the mandate of the Places to Grow principles. Users can easily step onto the VIVA “Blue-Bus” and ride their way to numerous destinations, including TTC’s Finch Subway Station, or GO’s Richmond Hill Station, all in a climate controlled environment.
